Green Fluorite from the William Wise Mine in Westmoreland, New Hampshire
is widely considered to be the best material of its kind in the world. John Sinkakas states in Gemstones of North America, the definitive work on the subject, "The color is exceptionally pure and rich, and is reminiscent of the hue of emerald. The beauty of this material has no peer in North America, and is rarely excelled elsewhere." Simply put, he is saying that this is the most beautiful gemstone of any kind found in North America. Specimens from our mine are prominently on display at the Smithsonian museum in Washington, D.C., at the Museums of Natural History in both Houston and New York and at Harvard's Peobody Museum, amongst others.

Bob Borofsky, the owner of the mine, has been collecting display specimens there since the mid 1980's, but has only recently begun to make beautiful gold jewelry with the gemstones. It began more as a hobby, with jewelry provided to friends and relatives. The fabulously beautiful fluorite attracted attention where ever it was worn, however, and the business has taken off from there.
